Aphrodite calling: Cyprus opens up
Updated: May 28
Cyprus, the third largest island in the Mediterranean and mythical birthplace of Aphrodite, the ancient Greek goddess of love, has made an announcement concerning the resumption of international air traffic: the most compelling element for us is the official declaration that "by 20th June travel restrictions will be lifted entirely for a number of countries."
There will be an incremental easing of restrictions on air traffic, upon which tourism in the island is completely dependent, leading up to that date.
Expect Tel Aviv-Larnaca flights to be among the first to resume.
Your best hotel bet in Larnaca is the Radisson Blu (go for an upper floor room with balcony). Elsewhere on the island, we recommend Almyra and Annabelle in Pafos and a bit farther out, on the Akamas peninsula, the Anassa.
